Nganampa Health Council now has an opportunity for a Fleet Manager to join our team based in Alice Springs. This is a full-time role being offered on a 1 year contract basis, with extension expected at the end of this period, for the right person.

The Fleet Manager takes key responsibility for the care and servicing of Nganampa's fleet of vehicles, trailers and plant equipment. The fleet is comprised of approximately sixty vehicles including, eight ambulances. 

Working under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the timely servicing and warranty requirements of the fleet, including the movement of vehicles from the APY Lands to the servicing agent;
  • Managing all fleet safety associated items including Navman tracking and duress systems and satellite phones;
  • Respond appropriately to third party monitoring vehicle and duress alerts, including after hours;
  • Ensuring all fleet purchases, vehicle fit-outs and vehicle sales are well-recorded;
  • Organising insurance claims and repairs on vehicles in the event of an accident or theft;
  • Liaising with installer and third-party monitoring company regarding procedures for new installations; and
  • Liaising with local suppliers for the procurement of new fleet and/or parts as required.

Please note, there will be frequent visits made to the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) Lands as part of this role, with some overnight stays required, and you should be available for this travel.

The Fleet Manager is required to assist and relive for the Purchasing Manager when required.

The Fleet Manager is also required to act as the ad-hoc telecommunications 'go-to' person for Nganampa employees in the event of phone faults or power outages that affect communications. This will include reporting telephone faults with the relevant telecommunications providers; processing orders for replacement equipment and liaising with relevant suppliers for the installation of new equipment as required.

About You

To be considered for this position you will have previous experience in a similar role and the ability to undertake work duties in a well-organised and systematic manner. Whilst you won't be required to physically service the vehicles yourself (this will be done by a third-party servicing agent) - you must have a mechanical aptitude and the ability to identify small mechanical faults and ensure that work has been completed appropriately, before sending vehicles back to their appropriate sites. 

Nganampa Health Council is seeking adaptable and flexible individuals who have good communication skills and the determination to see tasks through to completion.

Candidates who are open to change, accepting of Aboriginal people, comfortable living in a remote environment and who are willing to learn the ways of the people will be best suited to this position.

Please note: Prior to commencement you must be willing to undergo a Police Check and a Working With Children Check. A manual driver's licence is essential and it would be advantageous to have experience with 4WD vehicles, although a 2 day 4WD training course will be provided in your orientation week.

As Fleet Manager at Nganampa Health, you will receive an excellent salary package in the range of $85,000 - $97,000. This includes cash benefits of $79,000 - $90,000 plus estimated tax savings from salary sacrifice of $5,000 - $7,000 (commensurate with experience). 

A range of additional benefits will include:

  • Time in-lieu for overtime worked;
  • Generous leave provisions: 25 days annual leave, 15 days sick leave and two weeks study leave; and 

In addition, relocation assistance will be provided for applicants recruited outside of Central Australia (Up to $4,589.00, or $5,353.90 if relocating with a dependent partner or child).
